Roll: 17 - Just back from the lakeshore your Hound finds a piece of Silver Parsage!

Holland couldn't believe Axis had already made himself into a nuisance. Well, she could believe it, but she wished he would have at least waited a day. Lunch had gotten underway over by the cabin and as soon as she had stepped out of her tent to get her shoes on there went Axis, a pan of Tonato stew in his mouth. How had he not spilled all of it?!
After that debacle, they had gone to the lake where Axis proved his worth by finding some parsage. No one can deny Axis was excellent at finding rare parsage. This bunch happened to be the silver variety and Dr. Duvale was pleased with his find, softening her opinion of him after the stolen lunch incident, (it had been her pan of stew Axis had stolen after all). - 137 WC

Roll: 8 Your handler finds a piece of Parsage growing near the lake.

After being praised for his skills finding parsage, Axis was eager to be off exploring again. Holland allowed him to stay offleash as long as they were near the lake and not basecamp. He waded into the sticky lake mud and padded around a bit, Holland stayed on shore, wondering how best to clean his paws when they got back to camp because she definitely didn't want any of that in their tent tonight. He bounced from the lake and trotted into the treeline, Holland followed, looking around for any parsage, she was really hoping to find some more silver parsage.
Oh, what was that? Parsage! "Too slow Axis, I found it before you this time!" He looked over from a rotten tree stump he'd been investigating and gave her an unimpressed look, it was only regular parsage after all. - 140 WC

Roll: 19 - Your handler doesn't see much of interest, but the view is quite lovely.

The sun was rising and Axis was eager to be out of the tent and bolted as soon as Holland unzipped the tent. She scrambled to put on her boots, hoping Axis was running for the lake and not the campfire where breakfast was getting started. She had been planning on offering to help even though her rotation on breakfast duty wasn't until the next day, to make up for Axis' disruptive behavior, but it seemed she didn't have a choice but to follow Axis as she saw him headed down the path towards the lake.
When she got there, he was majestically standing on a tree stump, the sun shining behind him causing him to glow like the regal pup he probably thought he was. - 126 WC

Axis was having fun swimming in the lake, not being helpful at all, so Holland decided she would wander the shore a bit. She hadn't found anything all morning and she was hoping to find something before lunch rolled around.
She walked up a grassy hill, turning back to look behind her every so often to make sure Axis was still occupied. He was busy splashing after fish and lake weeds as he paddled around the lake. She hoped he didn't exhaust himself while he was too far out...
Ducking under some branches, she found herself atop the hill, and beneath some bushes found a patch of herbs. Oh, I wonder what these could be? - 115 WC

Roll: 11 - Your handler can hear something in moving around up in the woods, but can't see anything through the thick undergrowth.

After collecting the herbs and placing them gently in her pack, Holland turned and went far enough down the hill she was in to check on Axis. He was still paddling happily in the lake, he was now carrying a reed in his mouth. She walked back up the hill and had begun to to look for more of the herbs when she heard a rustling sound in the bushes.
The area ahead was thick with bushes and ferns and she couldn't see anything, she tried to push past them, but there was just too much brush in the way. Too bad she didn't have a hound who wasn't busy swimming in the lake to come flush whatever it was out... - 121 WC

Sighing, Holland turned away from the brush and started heading back down the hill towards the lake. Axis looked agitated and was swimming furiously towards a floating log towards shore. She hurried down the hill to see what it was all about.
As she reached the lake once more she spotted what all the fuss was about. A duskrat! Aris had reached the floating log pile by the shore and was scrabbling around the slippery flotsam trying to get at the duskrat. If he got it, she hoped he wouldn't maul it like last time, she had barely been able to salvage the hide and it was virtually unsellable. At least the meat had been usable last time. - 118 WC

Roll: 16 - Your Handler and Hound(s) spend a bit of time navigating some slippery logs on the lakeshore.

Axis seemed to have lost the Duskrat amongst the slippery logs but the time Holland made it back down to the lake. Axis turned towards her and gave her a pitiful look. "Aw Axis, you look so sad, I'll come over and see if I can help you fins it again, maybe we just need to overturn some logs."
So Holland navigated the muddy shoreline and then hopped to what she hopped was a stable log, it was so waterlogged and buried half deep in lake mud that it didn't move much...but she did when she slid right off! She tried to scrabble back onto it but it was just too slippery, Axis, worried, then jumped in to "help." His help consisted more of scrabbling the log beside her and splashing her than any actual help however. They finally gave up and hauled themselves back to shore, forgetting the duskrat completely. - 151 WC
