18 Your hound rolls around in the pine needles beneath the trees. It seems content to stay there for a while.

Both Mud and Knife were gone in a flash, but Hilda followed behind slower, looking down at her surroundings. It was tough to see through the dense ferns, but she kept going in the same direction until she came upon a small clearing, where finally she could see some footprints. They were small, with three toes, and ended abruptly. Three toes? Hilda couldn't think of what that could be. A new species, maybe?
After a moment, Mud and Knife came trailing back, tongue lolling but otherwise empty-handed. Obviously whatever it was had been tricky enough to get away from them. How strange.

4 - A pile of colorful feathers, but none of them seem like good enough quality to take home.
5 - A tiny ephemeral pond, filled to the brim with tadpoles. There are small footprints surrounding it, but the mud makes it too hard to tell what they are. 6 - Event! - Your handler hears a strange call, and thinks they can pinpoint the location. Submit a claim to investigate.
7 - Wow! You don’t think you’ve seen a duskrat that bright before. Receive Sunny Duskrat Pelt.
8 - The rustling leads your handler right back out to the beach, where they find a trail of three-toed footprints that weave in and out of the forest. Better tell Alice…
9 - The huge roots of these pine trees make a perfect cradle. Your handler decides to rest instead of continuing their search.
10 - A patch of tonatos that have been delicately nibbled on. You find one that’s still intact. Receive Spicy Tonato.
11 - Something dragged a piece of kelp from the beach into the forest. Why? Receive Charming Crimped Kelp.
12 - Your hound gets distracted by playing in the pine needles, and your handler can’t help but join them.

14 - A flash of color races past your handler’s vision, but it was so fast they can’t tell what direction it went.

16 - Shiny! Something has collected odds and ends into a nest of sorts, and you find a couple cogs hidden amongst them. Receive a random amount of cogs.
17 - A little stream that leads back towards the beach. Your handler gets distracted and follows it for a while.
18 - Your handler rushes to catch whatever’s moving, but nothing is on the other side.
19 - More ferns! They grow everywhere under the canopy of the trees. Your handler pauses to look for more rustling, but everything is still. 20 - Event! -
Your handler hears a sort of drumming noise that feels like it vibrates their whole body. They try to follow the sound to the source. Submit a claim to investigate.
Hilda led her hounds closer to the edge of the forest, peering in through the trees. Alice had heavily implied they should be keeping their eye out for new game species. So far, the only evidence of any game they'd found was the duskrat, but with so many ferns and the tall, protective canopy, surely they was something more interesting around.
As if she'd summoned something with her thoughts, some ferns just a few yards away rustled, moving away from them quickly. Mud's ears perked up, and she went tearing toward the sound. Knife followed quickly on her heels, barking loudly.
Unable to settle back into her resting spot, Hilda led her two hounds down the beach slowly. Despite the drizzling and the rocks, the sound of the waves crashing to shore was still pretty relaxing, and she was getting used to being vaguely damp.
Ahead, both Mud and Knife had stopped to sniff at something... fuzzy? She frowned, hopeful that there wasn't some poor hound pup abandoned on the beach. Thankfully, when she finally caught up to them she discovered that it was only the remains of a duskrat, in good enough condition that she could make use of it. Better that she take it than it go to waste.
While she rested, Mud found a clump of kelp that had washed ashore. Hilda jolted, but she wasn't fast enough to stop the brindled wire from rolling around in the stinky weed. By the time she'd made it, Mud was stinkier than ever before and covered in sand and pieces of slimy green kelp, but she looked excited about it, at least. Knife, for his part, seemed equally excited that his companion was now reeking.
Hilda grumbled, but collected some of the drying kelp anyways. It could be useful for boiling down later. She just wished it smelled a little better.
