"Does it feel... like there are eyes everywhere?" Ollie asked, looking around as they walked. Roadstead and Sunshower looked up at him curiously, while Icarus and Catamaran remained blissfully unaware, trotting along without a care in the world.
"I feel like over there," he said, pointing toward the steep valley sides. "I've got a good feeling about this."
With the hounds in tow, he left the creek's edge and headed toward the edges of the valley, which rose high above them, stretching toward the sky. "I could be wrong, but best to check, right?" he said, peering about curiously. Perhaps they would spot something unusual.
But it didn't seem meant to be. Much as he tried to fight the vegetation, Ollie soon found that the shrub was simply too thick, catching on his clothes and clawing him back as he tried to push his way through. "I guess not," he said with a plaintive smile, finally abandoning his attempts.
