Result: Your Hound plunged into the creek and returns with a chunk of Ore!
The trek down the side of the valley was a little harrowing. Phaedrae was thankful that none of the Hounds tried to pull on their leads on the way down. It would have ended poorly. After a lot of carefully watching where each foot and paw needed to be placed, the group made it back to the creek. After all, that's where they were meant to explore.
Interloper splashed right into the water, seeming to enjoy the coolness. Tangie quickly followed, but Black Gold remained firmly on the bank. As they made their way further up the creek, Phaedra noticed a distinctive grouping of plants. She bent and picked one, carefully stowing it in her pack.
Result: As your handler wanders along the creek they notice a small grouping of herbs. Receive an Azzaruan plant
Phaedra and her three Hounds cut away from the creek, after spotting an interesting looking tree up the valley side's slope. She hadn't seen a tree quite like it before. Maybe this valley sheltered species that wouldn't normally grow in the area. Not that she was an expert on Azzaruan flora. Or fauna really.
While contemplating what else made the valley special, Phaedra found a stunning overlook. The valley dropped away below steeply, and afforded a sweeping view of the creek. Even if the creek wasn't filled to the brim with ore, she could imagine this becoming a popular tourist destination.
After a few moments of enjoying the view it was time to get going again. The Hounds didn't let her rest for long.
Result: Your handler hikes up the side of the valley, and finds a nice overlook.
Phaedra had hardly made it thirty paces before she noticed something glimmering in the water. Tangie hardly wanted to stop walking, but her other two Hounds seemed interested as well. She bent towards the creek and scooped a hard chunk out of the surprisingly cool water. A wide smile broke over her face. If the ore was as easy to find as this, perhaps this would be a lucrative expedition.
She slipped the ore chunk into her satchel bag, and continued her path along the river. Her Hounds seemed more at peace now that they were moving. Phaedra hoped they'd all learn a thing or two on their little trek.

Phaedra was excited to stretch her legs after the long steam carriage journey. Things had been quite dusty and rather bouncy. Her Hounds had also been eager to spend time on solid ground again. Tangie in particular had been hard to contain for the final day. But now, they were finally at the base camp.
The valley was picturesque, to say the least. The sides were steep and treed, and the creek cut right through the centre. Phaedra tried to remain patient as Roderick explained what they were supposed to do. Interloper pulled against her lead, sniffing the air deeply. Tangie whined a little. Black Gold was the only patient Hound of her three. She hoped that soon they could be out there exploring, instead of spending more time listening.
And her wish was granted. The explanatory talk ended, and it was time to get exploring.
