Holland looked down at her pan with disappointment. She had been sure she was about to find something exciting only for the silt to wash away and see a common dark ore rolling in her pan. Still, ore was ore and she tossed it into her burlap sack on shore. She glanced over at her hounds, Clay was enjoying the creeks cool waters and Plum was playing in the grass, Axis had found himself a rock and was running with it back and forth through the creek. Maybe he would stir up something worth finding? Sighing, she dipped her pan back into the silty creekbed to see what else she could find. (WC 112)
