Dee & Arribal Exploring Ynnis
After becoming an official citizen of Ynnis, and exploring the city and surrounding countryside, Deidra was really starting to feel comfortable in her new environment. Every day brought new adventures and opportunities. Snackers was a constant companion from the day she had arrived, and they could enjoy wandering for hours if left to their own devices. But she had learned the importance of networking with people in new places from years spent traveling with her father. Especially if she wanted to start a new venture such as hound breeding and handling. It was best to seek out the professionals and fanciers, and people that knew the industry best... and befriend them if possible.
On a bright morning, Deidra had meandered out to watch some hound performance the training guild people were hosting and had made some acquaintances on the sidelines. Thankfully Snackers had chosen to sleep in and was not there to embarrass her again. But of course, the guild leader recognized her immediately and exchanged some hearty joking about her treat thieving untrained mutt. They chatted a bit and Deidra asked some questions about various training techniques for the unique hounds.
The trainer was enthusiastic and helpful and even had her experiment handling some hounds that were there to be socialized. She said Dee was a natural. She briefly felt bad she hadn't joined the Training Guild, but was still sure it was the right decision in the end. She thought about excusing herself to go about her day, but it just so happened that a nice gentleman was there with some young hounds that needed homes. Of course, she could not resist playing with them, and by the end of the day she had found herself the proud owner of a beautiful black hound with exotic features and sky blue eyes. There were even papers tucked securely in her pack stating her ownership and everything! Her name was Arribal, but she was already becoming "Arri" for short.
The sun was setting when Deidra was finally able to extricate herself and the new hound from the overly friendly crowd of trainers and hound fanciers. Lamps were lit and daytime businesses were closing up their shops, but the evening markets and food vendors were still lively. Deciding it would be a good opportunity to see how the hound would behave, Deidra wandered along the busy streets. Arribal followed obediently enough at first, but tugged often at the lead, and started lagging behind to sniff all the amazing things she came across.
Deidra knew that the tugging and stopping were probably bad behaviors she should not be encouraging, but there was only so much training she could handle inflicting on her hounds. There was a reason she had not picked the training guild after all. It was the call of the wild and the lure of treasures unknown under every stone. Snackers had found some interesting things on their explorations already, so if Arribal wanted to nose around the stoops and planters along their walk so be it.
As the stars started to sparkle in the night sky, the pair arrived at a little park-like area where some small food trolleys were set up together peddling various treats. The smell was delicious and her stomach rumbled a complaint that it had been a very long time since breakfast. Dee managed to scrounge up a couple of cogs from her pockets and secured them some kabob looking sticks of meat from an animal she had never heard of and some pastries that were filled with an equally mysterious jelly. Arribal was all ears and good behavior once food was involved, and they found a park bench to settle on while Deidra ate. The hound sat, starring intently, which Deidra was actually glad to see. At least she knew not to jump on a person and seemed to have a good foundation of basic etiquette so to speak.
"Good girl!" Dee praised and tossed Arri a hunk of charred meat. The black hound alligator snapped it out of the air with a loud clack of her terrifying jaws. "Oh jeez, you could chew it you beast..." Dee admonished the hound who just licked her chops and scooched closer in hopes of another morsel. They finished the treats between them, which were delicious, and ended their evening with a trip to the little water pool in the middle of the park. Arribal drank greedily while Deidra readjusted her pack and sipped some water from a bottle she usually carried. The hound was interested in everything but seemed to be settling in easily enough to being walked on the lead. She would definitely look into some training with her though, she had a good feeling about the Arri's potential.
"Alright hound, lets head home." She said, tugging the lead a little. Arribal was happy enough to follow it seemed. It had been a long day with a lot of stimulation for the hound, and it appeared she was actually getting a little tired. Yawning, Deidra realized she was also worn out and ready for bed too. It had been a really productive day of meeting some good people and an even better hound and exploring the town in a different way though.
Decided to invent how Dee got Arribal, and have them explore some more XD
