"Crow, this was a mistake."
Akadia hung off the rail of the ship like a pouting child. Her hands held tight to the safety above her head while she crouched on the deck and stared with narrowed eyes out across the sea. It had become a common sight as of late.
The man with the dual-colored hair just sighed. "We've been over this. You have two options, shut up and be patient or figure out how to swim."
Akadia, sporting a trio of lavender, black, and mint in her own hair, wailed dramatically. Her long ears of matching colour pinned back with displeasure. "Can't you fly us there? Crows are suppose to have wings and fly."
"If that was the case I wouldn't have spent so much to get us on that boat. I'm expecting that back, by the way."
"Yeah, yeah, I know." Akadia's arms had grown tired and she let go of the railing to wrap her arms around her knees. She lowered her white antlered head on top of them. "We have to actually get there first..." A huff soon followed her complaint.
Crow flicked his own black lop ear in annoyance. It had been what, two? three? months that they'd been on this journey to Itona and he'd grown weary of comforting her about the same issues. When they had first set off, she'd seemed so eager to go, eager for new opportunities. Although he had warned her that the journey would be neither easy nor fast, she wouldn't leave him alone until he agreed to take her along with him. He couldn't help but smile fondly. She was vexing, that much was sure, but despite that she made his life better. They'd be lost without each other.
The two of them immediately snapped to attention when they suddenly heard the loud cry of "Land ho!" It soon echoed across the ship as other members of the crew caught sight of their destination.
Akadia's mood turned around immediately with just those two words. She jumped to her feet and held desperately to Crow's arm. "Eeeee! We're almost there!"
Crow grinned back at her despite her normally annoying antics. He couldn't deny that he was delighted too. They had been on the voyage for so long. Not that he hadn't enjoyed it, but he was dearly ready for it to finally be over. The end of the ship meant a new beginning for both of them. Maybe they'd even be able to find what they couldn't in their homeland. With nothing but rumors to go off of, the possibilities seemed endless.
As they drew closer to the port, it took everything Crow had to stop Akadia from leaping overboard and swimming for the shore. Frankly, there was a part of him that wanted to dare to swim for it too. He had to remind her, and himself, that whatever was in store for them would surely be willing to wait the small amount of time it would take them to get there properly. It would all work out if they just took the proper steps.
