Hunting duo

Hel glanced over her shoulder before letting out a small huff. She didn't understand why the girl had to send another hound with her to hunt a simple duskrat. She had done it on her own just fine last time. Sure the pelt was a little mauled but for her first time she felt she had done fine. At least the girl didn't send the pup with her. Hel knew it was her son but she must have gotten his brains from his father as he certainly did not get the goofy dumbness from her. At least this one was smart enough to stay out of her way. She gave him another side glance though he was not paying attention to her. She pulled her head up in the air inhaling. They had found the nest during an exploration it shouldn't be that hard to track it down. "This way" Creep grunted next to her. She turned her head as she followed him down a familiar street. 

Creep took his task very seriously. When they had stumbled upon the nest it took all of his restraint to not end the whole nest there and then. However he knew this city had a way of doing things. The human needed to procure passes to hunt them. It had not been easy waiting for the passes. Finally he was let loose and he was a hound on a mission. Creep was a serious hound, he knew he was slightly off putting in his stoic nature so he was glad that he was sent with Hel. She was as serious as he if not more. Her eyes were piercing and full of judgment that didn't bother him in the slightest. She was his favorite partner for just about any task. As they walked he kept his nose low. Recalling on his memory of the smells that had lead them to the nest. The fresh baked biscuits form the nest by bakery, the salt water rolling in on the shore. 'There' he caught whiff of fresh grain and heard the tiny squeaks of what he knew to be his prey. He told Hel and the two began to stalk down the alleyway.

Hel mostly followed Creep who was dead set on his path. It took her a few moments before she could hear it. The faint shrill squealing of the duskrat and the tearing of something. She picked up her pace until they were at a trot. She smelled it before seeing it. The alley was dark and shadows cast harsh in between the two buildings. Up on a stack of wooden crates sat a burlap sack that must have been filled at one point with grain. She could tell this from the slow trickel of grain falling from a gnawed hole in the end of the sack. She slowly stalked forward nudging the bag with her nose. More grain fell in front of her. "It was here it must have heard us coming." She barked to Creep.

Creep shook his head "we were quiet." He moved closer to the bag that Hel was investigating giving it a whiff. The smell was relitivly fresh "they were just here." He nudged the bag. Closing his eyes trying to follow the scent trail as they had done during his hunting training. "There!" Hel called out pointing with her body toward a hole in the wall behind them. A tiny squeal came from just outside and Creep cursed the darkness that the alley was providing. He whirled around quickly making sure to stead his footing. His eyes settled on a small white tuft of fur scrambling toward the wall. "Not today." Creep called closing the distance between them in two large strides. The duskrat eyes widened and it willed itself to go faster beating its wings and hurling itself toward the hole in the wall. It was no use Creep was on it quickly grabbing it by the neck and shaking it once. That was all it took. He did his best to hold it gingerly in his mouth as he had heard how mauled the last pelt Hel had found was. He brought it over to her dropping at her paws and looking up at her.

Hel picked up the carcass gingerly looking back at Creep with a nodd. "We're not the worst team you and I" he barked to her and she gave him an affirming look. So maybe it was okay to have some help Hel thought. 'At least this one is useful' the two walked back down the familiar streets home to bring their prize to the human.
